For "ice hackers" boss Norbert Ortner it is clear: The association wants to start the Bayernliga without spectators. But the competition sees it differently.

Peißenberg - The finances are in order, the board was confirmed in office with a large majority. The general meeting of the Peißenberg “ice hackers” was unspectacular for a long time, until department head Norbert Ortner let the bomb burst when looking ahead to the new season. “The Bayernliga wants to start the season without a spectator,” the re-elected division head announced to around 70 people present, including almost the entire first team, at the “Zur Post” inn.

“A few weeks ago all 15 clubs said 'there are no ghost games'. And at the last video conference there were suddenly 14 in favor and only Peißenberg against, ”said Ortner of the supposed change of heart of the remaining 14 Bayernliga clubs. “I'm curious to see how many clubs survive,” said Ortner. The "ice hacker" boss sees major problems for the clubs due to the lack of spectator income. To compensate for the failures, the ice hackers are thinking about video transmission of the games. “We are in discussions and considerations and hope to find the best possible solution,” promised Ortner.

Ice hockey: Other clubs don't know about a season start without spectators

With his statement that the Bayernliga start will take place without spectators, Ortner is alone. Other clubs don't know about it. At ERV Schweinfurt, those responsible assume that the Bayern League will start on October 2nd. "But you have to wait and see how that goes together with the statement that no major events are allowed to take place until October 31," Stephan Steiner, sporting director at the "Mighty Dogs", is quoted on the club's website. The ERV is currently in talks with its hall operator and with the city of Schweinfurt to develop a hygiene concept that enables spectators to visit. This then has to be approved by the local authorities. "It is clear that for most of the Bayern league clubs a game without spectators is not economically feasible," said Steinert.

Those responsible at the EHC Waldkraiburg are also planning the season to start on October 2nd - with spectators: “The opening game of the Bayern League is to take place here with a large supporting program and representatives from all clubs. For this reason, too, we hope for a positive decision with a view to the possible number of viewers ”, said EHC President Wolfgang Klose. At the moment it is so that only test and practice games are not allowed to visitors.

No Bayern league team can manage a season without spectators.

Schongau's team manager Martin Resch

Martin Resch, team manager at EA Schongau, also contradicts the statement made by the Peißenberg ice hockey boss. "The association only asked for which clubs it was possible to hold preparatory games without spectators," said Resch. As things stand, test matches are allowed, but as in football, only without spectators. Resch confirms that TSV Peißenberg was the only club to speak out against it. However, according to the EAS team manager, it was not a vote, but only a survey by the association. "No Bayern league team can manage a season without spectators," says the Schongauer. At the moment, the clubs have no choice but to wait and hope. "I am assuming that nothing will change by the end of the holidays," says Resch. In any case, the Schongauers are prepared for a possible start to the season in October. "We have created a hygiene concept with a different audience capacity depending on the pandemic level," explains Resch. The ice should be prepared in the stadium from mid-September.

"Ice hackers" draw a positive balance - athletically and financially

Back to the general meeting of the "ice hackers": In his statement of accounts, Ortner first went into the past season. “Despite unlucky injuries, the team did their best.” For the division manager, it was still a good season on the whole, even if the interlocking round with the major league was missed. Financially, too, things went pretty well. With income of 165,500 euros and expenditure of 167,000 euros, the bottom line was a minus of 1,500 euros. This is due, among other things, to the lower average attendance (521, season 18/19: 587), a bad debt loss of 2000 euros, additional costs for security and the corona-related failure of the paper collections, according to treasurer Monika Lenttner in her statement of accounts. The offspring, on the other hand, went up with a plus from the 2019/20 season: Income of 91,300 euros is offset by costs of 84,700 euros. The number of members fell from 232 last year to 207.

Board of the "ice hackers" unanimously confirmed in their offices

Ortner, Tobias Ende (2nd department head, Lenttner (treasurer), Alex Muschiol (technical director) and Georg Kreutterer (assessor) were confirmed in their posts. Lisa Steidl moved in for the long-time secretary Barbara Schmid, who was no longer a candidate Manuel Jesse has been the new youth leader since March.

At the end, Ortner talked about the TSV team for the coming season. "We will play without foreigners, that is agreed with the coach," said the "ice hacker" boss. The original plan was to go on your own ice in mid-August. However, due to Corona, the date for making ice was postponed. "We will train at home from September 8th," said Ortner, who was reluctant to make predictions for the coming season. "It will only work if we move closer together."

That is also interesting:
The last will to continue is missing - the former Peißenberg goalkeeper Felix Barth can imagine returning to the ice in a different role.
When it rains in a parking lot - Florian Höfler has an unusual contract meeting when he moves to Füssen
