Serena Williams defeated her older sister Venus today in the latest confrontation between the two sisters on the tennis courts, to reach the quarter-finals in the first edition of the First Women Players Championship in Kentucky, USA.
Serena fired some powerful punches in deciding times in the deciding set to clinch an impressive 3-6 6-3 6-4 victory.
With this victory, Serena strengthened the record of direct confrontations with her sister to 19 victories against 12 defeats.
Serena, the number one seed in the next round, will meet the winner of the qualifiers 'contestant Canadian Lela Fernandes and the American participating Shelby Rogers' invitation card in the WTA International Championship.
