The 153.5 km route, the fourth stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné, between Ugine (Savoie) and Megève (Haute-Savoie) saw the 23-year-old runner Lennard Kämna (Bora) win. Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-Quick Step), who hoped to catch up with the German rider, finished in third place 56 seconds behind the leader. Kämna took off 3 km from the finish by taking down the Spanish rider David de la Cruz (UAE Emirates).

This stage was marked by the abandonment of the Dutchman Steven Kruijswijk (Jumbo-Visma) and the German Emanuel Buchmann (Bora), both victims of a fall in the descent of the Col de Plan Bois after around thirty kilometers. Austria's Gregor Mühlberger, Buchmann's teammate, also retired in the same crash. The withdrawals of Kruijswijk and Buchmann are added to the package before the departure of Colombian Egan Bernal, winner of the 2019 Tour.
The head of the general classification remains unchanged. The Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) remains the leader, closely followed by the French from the Groupama-FDJ team Thibaut Pinot (+14 ''). The riders will take the start on Sunday of the last stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné during a mountain stage of 153.5 km.
