Corona is changing sport in the Miesbach district: the Holzkirchen market run is also taking place virtually, and thus in a completely new form.

Holzkirchen - Corona continues to affect sporting events in the region. After the Schliersee Alpine Triathlon took place virtually for the first time this year (we reported), the Holzkirchen cycling and running club has also decided on this new form of competition: The market run will also take place virtually this year.

"The Holzkirchen market run has become an integral part of running in Holzkirchen and the south of Munich," writes the RSLC on its website. And they did not want to let this tradition fall victim to Corona. Especially since the 15th edition is coming up this year. And so the association decided on a virtual solution over a longer period of time. “The market run Sunday will now be extended to the entire October,” writes the RSLC. This means: The participants can complete their run between October 1st and 31st and then send the time to the club. This is also the registration for spontaneous people, although a pre-registration period is planned.

However, the virtual market run is not the only change that runners have to be prepared for this year: For example, the ten-mile run is no longer applicable, as is the 1.4-kilometer children's route. Instead, this year only two distances are available: three and ten kilometers. Both routes start and finish on Baumgartenstrasse. For the three-kilometer run, the RSLC decided on a turning point route, from the start to the edge of the forest Baumgartenweg and back. The ten-kilometer run leads to Baumgarten, Buch, Kleinhartpenning and back, about half of the route leads over forest paths. "The runners can expect a scenic route in front of the gates of Holzkirchen", emphasizes Mayor and patron Christoph Schmid.

Prizes will be raffled among all participants

Another difference is that there are no different age groups this year. The runtime achieved is entered in the respective result list. In addition, the fastest time does not mean a prize. "Since we don't hold a prize giving ceremony with trophies, we will raffle material prizes from our sponsors among all runners." You can win vouchers for Bergzeit as well as day tickets for the Bavarian Regiobahn. The winners will be drawn on the first weekend in November and the drawing will then be posted as a video on the Internet.

There is no entry fee for the virtual market run, participation is free. The RSLC is of course happy about donations and will put up a donation box in the start / finish area in mid-September. Even if a lot is different this year, the club is hoping for many participants. Improving the record of 776 people from last year is likely to be difficult. ses
