When asked how the Free State of Bavaria reacts to the letter from the Bavarian Football Association and whether  football games could be treated in the same way as cultural events in the future , Herrmann says : "On the basis of the currently valid infection control measures ordinance, this would currently not be possible because spectators at football games are expressly excluded. Competitions for sports with contact are not yet permitted either. "

As in mid-June, Herrmann emphasizes again that he will work for a step-by-step return to regular sports operations with spectators in the stadiums : “The step-by-step return to regular sports operations is of course of great importance for everyone involved in Bavaria, I am also committed to this. Nevertheless, further relaxation in sport requires treatment in the Council of Ministers and a corresponding resolution. "

Herrmann goes on to say that “the path of the state government was and is a cautious one . And it has also proven to be successful ”.

Joachim Herrmann: "The further containment of the pandemic is currently one of the greatest challenges in the Free State"

With regard to the planned continuation of the season in September , Herrmann is keeping a low profile , he neither wants to confirm nor cancel an appointment. This applies both to the the DFB scheduled final day of the amateurs (the Toto Cup semi-final between Viktoria Aschaffenburg and Wuerzburg Kickers) on 05.09.2020 , as well as the planned start of the season on 12./13.09.2020

"Due to the increased number of holiday returns to Bavaria due to the holiday season and the planned resumption of regular school operations in September, further containment of the pandemic is currently one of the greatest challenges in the Free State, " said Herrmann .

The Minister of State continues: “Whether and when, against this background, competitions in sports with contact is possible again and when successive spectators can be there again, will depend on the further course of the pandemic in Bavaria ”.

Joachim Herrmann: "The current number of cases in Bavaria remind us to be very careful at the moment"

When asked whether a “pro-restart” decision would have to be made a certain amount of time in advance or whether a short-term decision without a lead time for the clubs would be conceivable, Herrmann commented as follows: “Of course we know that further easing will take place in sport are always associated with preparatory work for everyone involved. The state government is keeping a close eye on this and regularly reassesses the situation . "

In general, the Minister of State does not want to make any promises because “ we re-evaluate every day. The current case numbers in Bavaria urge us to be very careful at the moment . "
