Peiting - The squad planning of the EC Peiting is slowly but surely coming to an end. Because now the ice hockey league team could announce the whereabouts of another high performer. Simon Maier signed for another season with the ECP.
"Overall, the ECP suits me very well," says the 33-year-old according to a club announcement. “The board and the environment are something special here in Peiting. But first and foremost I'm looking forward to seeing the guys in the locker room and on the ice again. ”So he didn't even think about a change.
Almost 200 scorer points since 2015
In 2006 Maier played for the EC Peiting for the first time - but only for a short time then. His other career stations included Riessersee, Schwenningen and Deggendorf. In 2015 the father of the family returned to Peiting from Bad Bayersoien and stayed. Since then, the striker has scored 196 points in 194 games for the ECP.
His coach, Sebastian Buchwieser, is not without reason full of praise: “Simon is one of the best German strikers in the league. He is a phenomenon and instinctively does a lot of things right. ”But Maier also fulfills his role model function, who even served as captain at times last season. “The young players can learn a lot from him. In addition, he always wants to win and fights to the end, ”says Buchwieser.
"An absolute leader"
Team manager Gordon Borberg sees it similarly: “He is an absolute leader who can be used in outnumbered and outnumbered. He always plays with a lot of brains and dedication, ”says Borberg of Peiting's player with the number 15 on his back. He is already looking forward to the start of the upcoming Ice Age. "Hopefully it will start again soon", says Maier. It was only at the beginning of the week that the Peitinger team presented another approach, Aziz Ehliz.
