Israeli judo is back in action, as part of another collaboration between Moshe Ponti and Sylvan Adams. 100 athletes (50 women and men) will compete in January 2021 on the day of competitions at the new Volundrum in Tel Aviv, which is designed for bicycle competitions and was built by Sylvan Adams. The women will compete first in the morning when the men will go up for a lunch session at the same place.
It should be noted that this is the first major Israeli judo competition since the outbreak of the corona. By the way, the Judo Association hopes that the competition, if successful, could serve as preparation for two other major events: the first is the Grand Prix to be held again this winter with international participants, and the second is the late September tournament in Zagreb, which has also been postponed.
The union hopes that the judo union will host an international competition as early as January in accordance with a joint outline with the Ministry of Health.
Although an audience will not be allowed to enter Volendrum for the day of the competitions, the battles will be broadcast live and for the Israeli audience it will be an opportunity to watch Sagi Muki, Uri Sasson and Peter Plachik again who were supposed to participate in the Olympic Games in Tokyo last summer.
