PSG-Bayern: from Lisbon to the Parc des Princes, the party but under surveillance

Club and supporters organize to share Champions League final and possible victory in the context of the epidemic

Too often disappointed in the past, PSG have officially refused to look into the scenario of a final victory of the Champions League until the semi-final. Since the easy qualification against Leipzig (3-0), the dream has become a hope and the club is obliged to look into a positive outcome. Without boasting, by superstition and because of the epidemic linked to the new coronavirus which has shaken up daily life at least as deeply as the Champions League format.

Apart from some families of players and a few hundred Parisians who have chosen to live the adventure in Lisbon despite the closed door and local containment measures, the team and its supporters will therefore experience the event from a distance. From one stadium to another, for the two most visible parts of the party.

Two giant screens on the Park's lawn

PSG finalized this Saturday the last details of the evening which will bring together 5,000 people at the Parc des Princes, including 1,500 ultras. The latter will gather in the bays of the Auteuil turn that they usually occupy. In recent days, they have crisscrossed the emblematic places of the capital (Notre-Dame de Paris, Invalides, Panthéon ...) to deploy support banners that will continue to spread on social networks until a few hours before the meeting this Sunday. This Saturday, the Ultras Paris Collective also launched an appeal to the “Parisian people”: “We call on you to display our colors wherever you are. Flood your windows, your balconies, your cars with our colors! "

For the broadcast, which promises to be festive, two giant screens will be installed on mobile trucks within the Porte de Saint-Cloud enclosure. One of 84 m² in front of the Borelli stand and one of 54 m² in front of Auteuil. As with the friendly match against Celtic Glasgow, seats have been condemned to ensure distance and the mask will be mandatory everywhere, even if the Parc des Princes does not appear in areas of the capital where this measure is generalized in places public.

Still with a view to sobriety, the club ensures that nothing is currently planned in the event of a final victory, in order to avoid a massive rally in front of the enclosure, for example. A relative evokes "a projection, not a show". Behind this modesty, it's a safe bet that the club will find some fireworks to shoot on the roof in the event of an ideal scenario. The smoke from the ultras, too, are never far away.

The Paris police headquarters and the Ministry of the Interior, which presented their final plan for the capital, are ensuring the compatibility of the meeting and the possible festivities with health measures. After informal discussions with the police headquarters, the PSG made no request for a possible parade on the Champs-Elysées similar to that of the Blues in 2018. And even if other sources close to the public authorities were much less categorical this Saturday, such a parade is ruled out by the club at present.

A gathering at the Park with 5,000 privileged people in the event of a coronation?

In Lisbon, the situation is identical. It was decided that the Parisian delegation would spend the night in the Myriad hotel on the banks of the Tagus river no matter what. It seems obvious that the Portuguese "bubble" could open up to relatives, at least if successful, but again PSG ensures that they have not prepared anything.

The delegation's return to France is scheduled for early afternoon, Monday. The Parisians had taken off from Le Bourget, but another airport easier to secure could be chosen for the return. With a view to a European coronation, the mayor of Paris, the Ministry of the Interior and the police headquarters have raised the probable hypothesis of a gathering at the Parc des Princes in the same sanitary conditions as for the retransmission of the match. This would allow 5,000 privileged people to discover the trophy.

It remains to be seen whether the party could be completed, as some at the club imagine, by a political invitation, at the town hall, or even at the Elysee. A reception at the Town Hall is well considered if successful, but not on Monday. In the entourage of Emmanuel Macron, notorious supporter of OM, it is indicated that the question does not arise at the present time.
