The NBA playoffs continue to be relatively close in the West, and a little less so in the East. Tonight (Friday-Saturday) the Clippers and Jazz took a 1: 2 lead over the Mabs and Nuggets - one in a close game and the other in a one-sided defeat. In the East, however, one second-round series is already approaching by leaps and bounds, with Boston and Toronto leading 0-3 over Philadelphia and Brooklyn.

    Tonight:

Toronto - Brooklyn 92: 117 (The Raptors went up to 0: 3 in the series)
Utah - Denver 87: 124 (Jazz went up to 1: 2 in the series)
Philadelphia - Boston 102: 94 (The Celtics went up to 0: 3 in the series)
Dallas - LA Clippers 130: 122 (The Clippers went up to 1: 2 in the series)

Dallas - LA Clippers 130: 122 (The Clippers went up 1: 2 in the series)

This is what happens when the MVP decides to take matters into his own hands. Kwai Leonard saw Paul George continue to struggle, so he just took more on himself. It ended with a dominant first half for him and the Clippers, and a win also achieved through an unwanted twist in the plot: During the third quarter, in an attempt to keep Kwai up, Luca Doncic sprained his ankle and went down to the locker room. The Slovenian prodigy insisted on returning despite a robbery on his leg, but if up to this point in the game he was not at his best, with the injury he was already a shadow of himself. As in Game 2 where he got into an offense problem, this time too the Dallas players covered him in a good way, but this time it was not enough, with a series of one-on-one moves by Kwai in the final minutes deciding the cap in favor of the team from LA.

Kwai finished with 36 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists, and looked almost unstoppable. Paul George, on the other hand, once again faltered with a weak offensive game and a staggering percentage (11 points, 3 of 16 from the field, 1 of 8 from three), but also contributed 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Landry Shamet was the X Factor with 18, with Ivica Zubac adding 15. The Mavericks struggled as mentioned with Doncic half-qualified and half-focused. Although he finished with a triple-double of 13 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, he was accurate with only 4 of 14 from the field and dragged his foot alarmingly at the end. Kristaps Forzingis (34 points and 13 rebounds) and Seth Kerry and Tim Hardaway Jr. (22 each) excelled, but it was not enough.

Utah - Denver 87: 124 (Jazz went up 1: 2 in the series)

It turns out Mike Conley is the tiebreaker that Utah was missing in the first two games. The quarterback who came out of the bubble to be with his wife at the birth of their son returned from isolation and made an impressive playoff debut: he sniped seven threes (a career-high in the post-season), led the Jazz Scorers list with 27, and led Utah to an early escape that eliminated Denver, who demonstrated Breaking threshold is alarming and defeated by 37 points - its third-highest loss ever in the playoffs.

With Conley by his side, Donovan Mitchell required much less effort. This time he saw Conley and Rudy Gober - while knocking out Nikola Jukic in the chin duel - take the reins. The Nuggets went down to the break 17 behind, but came back in the second half even more sluggish, on the way to a hard-fought defeat. Aside from Conley, Rudy Gober was also excellent with 22 points and 14 rebounds, with Donovan Mitchell settling for 20 yards. The Nuggets, on the other hand, suffered from a very weak day on both sides of the field, with Nikola Jukic (15 and 6 assists) and Jamal Marie (12 and 6) far from their peak.

Philadelphia - Boston 102: 94 (The Celtics went up to 0: 3 in the series)

The Sixers had all the conditions needed to scrape a first win in the series: Jason Taitum faded after the performances in previous games, the Celtics' shelling from the outside was replaced by a streak of off-arc offenses, and Joel Ambide was once again very dominant. Unfortunately, they also missed this opportunity, mainly due to two bad actions by Ambide in the last minutes - including a negligent loss to Marcus Smart and his shot blocked by Jason Taitum.

The flagship standout that illustrated the depth of the Celtics was Kamba Walker, who sniped 24 points, dropped 8 rebounds and excelled in the final quarter. Jaylen Brown added 21 and 7 rebounds, this time Jason Taitum settling for just 15 with 6 of 19 from the field and only 2 of 9 from the three. Ambide (30 and 13 rebounds) and Josh Richardson and Shake Milten with 17 each, did not prevent a loss, perhaps on the way to the sweep. Tobias Harris again disappointed with 15 points on 6 of 19 from the field, and without a single three.

    Toronto - Brooklyn 92: 117 (0: 3 to Toronto in the series)

After struggling in Game No. 2 and winning it only thanks to an excellent final quarter, this time the Raptors made sure to show who the boss was from the first moment. Pascal Siakam scored 26 and led a focused champion who steadily widened the gap, controlling the pace and not looking back. Fred VanValit finished with 22, Serge Ivka added 20 and 13 rebounds and Kyle Laurie was solid with 11, 10 and 7 on points, rebounds and assists. Tyler Johnson led the Brooklyn scoring with 23 and Charis Lebert scored 15, but the Nets threw from next to nothing and finished 48 minutes with 16 of 51 from outside the arc.
