Max Kruse is preparing for the new season with 1. FC Union in the training camp in Bad Wörishofen. Just under three weeks before the first compulsory game in the DFB Cup, the 32-year-old is not yet eligible to play for the Berlin Bundesliga club. As Fifa confirmed, it does not yet have all the documents for a transfer of Kruse from Fenerbahce Istanbul to the Iron. First the "Bild" newspaper reported about it.

Kruse was presented as an access on August 7th at Union. Most recently, Kruse was at Fenerbahce in the Turkish league, where he scored seven goals in 20 appearances. Because the Istanbul club allegedly failed to meet the agreed salary payments during the corona crisis, Kruse terminated his contract.

A legal battle between Kruse and Fenerbahce may now threaten. For the world association Fifa, the case is not a priority. Due to the corona pandemic, the transfer time does not end until October 5th. Exactly which forms still have to be submitted was not disclosed.

Union will play the cup at Karlsruher SC on the second weekend in September, and FC Augsburg will come to the Alte Försterei for the Bundesliga opener on September 19. Managing director Oliver Ruhnert does not yet see any reason to worry. There's no pressure, he said.

Kruse can currently only train individually because of an ankle lesion. According to Fifa regulations, he would be eligible to play as a guest player for Union in test games.

Before moving to Turkey, Kruse played for Werder Bremen from 2016 to 2019. In his career he has made 250 Bundesliga appearances for Bremen, where he played from 2006 to 2009, FC St. Pauli, SC Freiburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach and VfL Wolfsburg. He scored 74 goals and made 68 assists. Between 2013 and 2015, Kruse made 14 international matches.
