The former president of the Parisian club, disappointed with the defeat in the final of the Champions League against Bayern Munich, thinks that PSG do

Alain Cayzac, the former president of PSG (2006-2008), on vacation in the Lot, witnessed in front of his television screen the defeat (1-0) of Thomas Tuchel's players in the Champions League final against the Bayern Munich. Despite the bitter taste left by this failure, the former leader sees in this epic until the final the beginnings of future success.

What do you remember from this final?

ALAIN CAYZAC. I'm obviously disappointed but it's a fairly logical victory for Bayern. The Germans won on points. It is not a scandal. Of course, PSG could have scored but overall there isn't much to say.

What did PSG miss?

Neymar and Mbappé did not play 100%. Neymar always had two or three opponents on his back and Mbappé was coming back from injury and it showed. It was difficult in these conditions but it is not the final that I remember. The club has taken a step forward by arriving at this stage of the competition.

What does he need to improve?

There is still a little work to do but we have seen beautiful things. They said the attack was good. The defense is also holding up. It is solid. Kimpembe has been great and midfielders Herrera and Paredes are very strong. And above all, there is this state of mind, this joy of playing together. Now, the club must aim for the last four in each Champions League, it has become a very big one in Europe.

Did you vibrate in front of these games behind closed doors?

I have to say that I forgot that there were no spectators. I was in the game and I was living it as intensely as I would normally. Well, the result is disappointing. There will be no small glass of champagne.
