Apart from Lens - PSG postponed at the request of the finalist club of the Champions League, there is no match postponed this week in L1 because of Covid-19 as it could have been the case for OM - Saint-Etienne during of the 1st day. But for several days, French football leaders have been working on relaxing the health protocol put in place with the authorities in recent weeks.
Until now, he predicted that beyond three positive tests, a situation synonymous with the appearance of a cluster, in the workforce of the same club over eight current days, a match could be postponed after decision to a commission. "We have started working with the public authorities in recent days, so that this notion of cluster is revisited and is inspired by the model put in place by UEFA for its Lisbon Final 8", explained Didier Quillot, the executive director general of the LFP on Monday. UEFA had decided not to question the course of a match from the moment a team had 13 players including a goalkeeper.
Since then, discussions have advanced with the authorities. Noël Le Graët, President of the FFF is also in favor of this relaxation of the protocol. But compared to UEFA, French leaders plan to set at 18 or 20 players (including a goalkeeper) the minimum number in a team so that it can play a match. The majority of teams having 25 to 30 pros, or even more, in their workforce, this measure should make it possible to keep, more or less, the calendar even if several cases of Covid-19 appear within the clubs.
The LFP will hold a board of directors on Wednesday morning on this subject and should probably take note of the protocol relaxations.
