Berlin - SANA
Polish star Robert Lewandowski, the star of Bayern Munich and the scorer of the Champions League and the Bundesliga, was named the best player of the year 2020 in Germany today.
According to a poll of sports journalists conducted in Germany and published by the German football magazine Kicker, the 31-year-old Polish international won 276 votes in first place, far ahead of his colleagues Thomas Muller with 54 votes and Joshua Kimmich with 49 votes.
Lewandowski led his team to a historic hat-trick after winning the League and Cup competitions and the European Champions League.
Lewandowski scored 55 goals, but he will not be able to compete for the annual Golden Ball award given by "France Football" magazine, after the latter announced last July that it would not award its prize this year due to the circumstances imposed by the new Corona virus.
