The Swedish forward ended the suspense, which was no longer really one, by officially extending his adventure at AC Milan by one season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, almost 39 years old, is extending his contract with AC Milan for one season, formalizing Monday evening the Italian football club where the Swedish star returned in January.

The former PSG striker, whose extension was no longer in doubt as he had posted himself on social networks in recent days with the Milan shirt and had widely communicated on his return to Italy, is now linked at the Rossoneri until June 30, 2021. "Today, Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined his teammates and his coach Stefano Pioli at the Milanello sports center where he participated in his first training session" with a view to the resumption of the Serie A, scheduled for September 19, announced the club in a press release.

According to the Italian press, Milan and his star striker have agreed to a salary of 7 million euros for this additional year.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic had known during the day, via his social networks, that he would resume number 11 from his first stint at AC Milan between 2010 and 2012, instead of number 21 adopted on his return at the beginning of the year .

The Swede had indicated this weekend that he wanted "to help the club return to where it deserves to be."

For six months, we have done great things but we have not won anything.

(...) We must continue and do the same thing, ”he stressed in a video.

Ibra joined Milan at the end of December 2019 for a six-month contract after leaving the Los Angeles Galaxy, for a salary of 3.5 million euros, and an additional year as an option.

Since returning to Lombardy, the ex-PSG striker has had a positive impact on a struggling team, scoring 11 times in 20 Serie A and Italian Cup appearances.

The goal posted by AC Milan is to regain the Champions League, a competition won seven times by the Rossoneri but which they have not played since 2014.

"My objective is to always win."
