NBA professional Dennis Schröder has to pay after his suspension. The North American professional basketball league fined the German national player from Oklahoma City Thunder with a fine of 25,000 dollars (around 21,000 euros).
Schröder was sent off on Saturday in the fifth game of the play-off round of 16 against the Houston Rockets (80: 114) in the third quarter of the field. The point guard had punched his opponent PJ Tucker in the legs when he crashed into him.
Tucker, who was German champion, cup winner and most valuable player (MVP) of the finals with Brose Bamberg in 2012, also has to pay 25,000 dollars. The American had given Schröder a headbutt from behind after the action.
The series continues on Tuesday night. Houston leads 3-2 and can make the quarter-finals perfect. Schröder has to get two wins in a row with OKC to advance.
Again the early end for the Mavs
National player Maximilian Kleber failed with his Dallas Mavericks in the play-off knockout round. The Texans were defeated by the Los Angeles Clippers in the sixth game 97-111 and lost the best-of-seven series 2-4. Dallas has not made it to the quarterfinals since winning the title with Dirk Nowitzki in 2011.
Kleber, who started as a center in the starting lineup, had nine points and six rebounds. The Mavs' best player was once again the young Slovenian star Luka Doncic with 38 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Kawhi Leonard (33 points, 14 rebounds) led LA into the second round, the Clippers play against the Denver Nuggets or Utah Jazz. In the duel it is 3: 3.
In contrast, Daniel Theis successfully started the quarter-finals with the Boston Celtics. In the first duel of the best-of-seven series, the record champions won against defending champions Toronto Raptors in Orlando / Florida with a clear 112: 94. Center Theis scored 13 points in 26 minutes of play in his best playoff performance to date and contributed 15 strong rebounds.
For both teams it was the first game after the NBA player strike. The Milwaukee Bucks, which are also in the semi-finals of the Eastern Conference, went on strike in their playoff game on Wednesday in protest against police violence in the United States. The NBA then paused and resumed gaming on Saturday.
