Luk Jäger caused a bang over 2000 meters.

Heilbronn - On the first day of the German youth championship for the U18 and U20 in Heilbronn, the athletes from TSV Penzberg performed well.

Luk Jäger (U20) even won the gold medal over the 2000 meter obstacle late on Friday afternoon.

The TSV Penzberg athlete crossed the finish line after 5: 56.38 minutes.

He had increased his personal best by around ten seconds.

Competitor falls on the moat, Luk Jäger takes the chance

Jäger, who mostly ran in second place, profited from a mishap of the leader Florian Zittel (LG Region Karlsruhe) - he fell on the last lap at the moat.

Luk Jäger, on the other hand, had no problems at the moat and thus secured the gold medal.

Last year in Ulm, the Penzberger had already won silver over the same distance.

The fallen Zittel pulled himself up and sprinted to the runner-up title with an energetic performance (5: 56.82).

Marco Sietmann (LG Münster) won bronze in 5: 57.02 minutes.

Julia Rath easily reached the 1500 meter final

Julia Rath made it into the finals with the female U18 on the 1,500 meter course with aplomb.

The 16-year-old, who previously competed for TSV Penzberg and now competes for LAC Quelle Fürth, won her semifinal run with 4: 44.70 minutes.

Rath mostly ran at the front, but the field was close together for a long time.

In the final sprint, Rath then distanced Amelie Klug (Bayer Leverkusen / 4: 45.08) and Nele Heymann (TuS Haren / 4: 45.12).

The final run will take place this Saturday at 4.45 p.m.

Twelve of the 16 starters qualified for it.

Rath is one of the medal candidates with her personal best of 4: 32.52 minutes.

The current leader in the DLV best list, Lisa Merkel (LG Region Karlsruhe), took part in the first semifinal run - and won it with a time of 4: 43.39 minutes.

Merkel had already run the 1500 meters in 4: 28.61 minutes this year.
