OM wants to stem the contamination.
The Marseille club has decided to "temporarily" close its training center after the detection of a case of Covid-19, the Ligue 1 club announced on Friday. "As part of routine tests", wrote OM in a press release , "Several cases of Covid-19 have been detected within the training center".
The club implemented "the isolation procedure in force" and "contacted the FFF (French Football Federation) commission provided for this purpose".
"The training center will be temporarily closed pending the next tests scheduled for next week", concludes OM.
Identical decision in Le Havre
The club has already experienced eight positive cases for the coronavirus in its first team.
He had to postpone his match of the first day of Ligue 1 against Saint-Étienne, and play against Brest (3-2 victory) without Dimitri Payet, Maxime Lopez or Alvaro Gonzalez, for the second day.
Finally, his goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, cured after being in his fortnight, was again tested positive, probably for "residual" traces of the virus, according to the FFF, and had to give up the matches of the France team in the Ligue des nations.
OM is not the only professional club to have had to close its training center because of the Covid-19.
Le Havre announced a similar decision on Wednesday.
