In pain and nine, PSG wins in extremis against Metz

2020-09-16T21:11:08.087Z

In a late match of the 1st day of Ligue 1, Paris SG snatched the victory in stoppage time against FC Metz (1-0).

At the Parc des Princes

At the end of the suspense.

And boredom ... While they were heading straight for a scoreless draw, after giving in in their first two games of the season, the Parisians, at nine, came to the end of Metz on Wednesday ( 1-0).

It was a late match of the first day of Ligue 1. It was Julian Draxler who freed the Parc des Princes by throwing the ball into the net in stoppage time. A goal in the form of a hiding place -misery, after a lackluster meeting against Garnets who could blame themselves for not having taken better advantage of the weaknesses of a still reworked PSG, with many absences (Neymar, Mbappé, Verratti…).

Another expelled (Abdou Diallo).

Another wounded (Juan Bernat).

Paris finishes nine

Open start to the match, with a (very) hot first situation for striker Messin Diallo, a little surprised to be so free at the far post (2nd).

We went from one goal to another, with Navas and Oukidja coming out well ahead, respectively, of Niane and Di Maria (8th and 10th).

The pace was not very high, however.

The intensity either.

And the Parisian domination was put in place over the minutes, with a Di Maria in the oven and in the mill.

Technical leader in the absence of Neymar, he delighted his partners, here with a bright opening for Sarabia (32nd), there with a perfect cross for Icardi (33rd), or even this service for Draxler, who missed his face to face with Oukidja (39th).

Day and night compared to his performance last Sunday… But no half-time goal.

And Metz could even have put one against, with Navas who intervened in front of Boulaya (25th) and Niane (39th), alone at the far post (0-0 MT).

Always domineering, PSG created fewer situations after the break.

And Metz still lacked conviction and precision on his own.

Twist: warned after only 42 seconds of play, Abdou Diallo received a red for a foul on Niane (65th).

Four reds in two matches for Paris, after the three in the Classic.

The double penalty was close on the next free kick.

Except that this expulsion had the merit of waking up Parisians.

Oukidja shone against Icardi (77th) and Di Maria (79th).

On the other hand, he was very happy to see this strike from the left of Dagba pass by (83rd).

The bad luck did not let go of the PSG, with the exit on injury of Bernat (86th), entered during the game. Paris finished nine!

When it does not want… And it could have been worse, because Metz had cartridges to make the decision (89th, 90 + 1).

After a job from Di Maria, it was finally Draxler who had the last word, with a header, scoring in the empty goal (1-0, final score).

See you in Nice on Sunday

This far-fetched success does not, however, make us forget the shortcomings of a Paris Saint-Germain which did not show much on Wednesday.

A PSG visibly still in the preparation phase and which has nothing to do with the team that we saw rise to the final of the Champions League and hold the dragee high at Bayern Munich in Lisbon ... The rest will be Sunday, in Nice, on the fourth day.

The marathon continues for the men of coach Tuchel.

It will be without Neymar, Paredes, Kurzawa and Diallo, suspended.

To see if the wounded (Verratti, Kehrer, Bernat) will be operational.

The question will also arise for Mbappé.

In the meantime, PSG takes its first three points of the season, that's already it.
