Israeli rider Guy Niv today (Saturday) successfully completed the 20th section of the Tour de France and everything is ready for history tomorrow - when he passes the Champs Elysees in Paris where the world's biggest Grand Tour will end.
"Now I can say: 'Paris is closer than ever,'" Niv announced with a big smile at the end.
Niv, the first Israeli rider to finish the column, will do so together with six other members of the Israel Startup Nation group, who themselves will make history in terms of local sports.
Niv finished the segment in a time of one hour and six minutes (36.2 km) held in a personal riding style against the clock with a particularly challenging climb towards the end.
Now everything is ready for the big event tomorrow, so the Israeli group will probably enter as one of the most famous avenues in the world of cycling and probably one of the most glorious and historic in the world.
The surprise of the day is probably one of the biggest surprises in the history of the column when Taday Fogacher from the Emirates team managed to erase the 57-second gap from the general leader Primoz Roglich from the Yambo Wisma team and he will be crowned the column champion tomorrow.
A turnaround in the 90th minute.
Roglich got into a black day and struggled to cope with the recent ascent, during which Pugacher widened his gap to 59 seconds.
The business is over.
The last time the general carrier lost the shirt in the penultimate section was in 1989, but in the special corona season the bicycle industry also received a huge surprise.
