World number one Novak Djokovic won his fifth title in the Italian Open today, by defeating Argentine Diego Schwartzman 7-5, 6-3 to be crowned champion of one of the Masters tournaments for the 36th time.
Although Schwartzman, seeded eighth in the tournament, was the best in the beginning, Djokovic regained his focus and his strikes proved successful, breaking Schwartzman's service, snatching the first and second sets and settling the match in his favor.
It is noteworthy that, before the start of the French Open next week, Djokovic won 31 out of 32 matches this year and will be one of the favorites for the title alongside Spain's Rafael Nadal, who holds the title 12 times and Austrian Dominic Thiem, who is crowned the US Open this month.
