Romanian Simona Halep, number one, won the Italian Open today, after her second-seeded Czech rival Karolina Pliskova withdrew from the final due to an injury.
Reuters reported that the result after Pliskova withdrew indicated Halep's advance by 6-0 and 2-1, and despite falling to the ground strongly in the second half, Halep quickly advanced 5-0 in the first set after breaking her opponent, the defending champion three times, and after she managed to save three. Points to break serve in the fourth game, despite being trailed 4-0.
The Romanian player gave an excellent attacking performance while Pliskova was not in the best condition and completely failed to match the performance of her opponent, whose superiority was quite clear.
With this victory, Halep won its third title in a row this year after winning the Dubai Championships before stopping due to Corona and Prague last month.
