What a race: the Moto2 riders had to return to the pits twice.

The rain made problems in Misano.

But Marcel Schrötter didn't just struggle with that.

Misano

- Marcel Schrötter's arm goes up in the air.

Then he looks back briefly at the drivers rolling behind him.

They too raise their index fingers.

It's raining.

Yet again.

And the Moto2 riders want to go back to the pits.

They may.

This is shown to you by the red flag that appears during the warm-up round shortly before the restart.

It was the second interruption of the Moto2 race in Misano, Italy.

The weather was causing problems.

But not only that. Nevertheless, Schrötter was able to score eleven points for the overall standings at the end of the day.

He finished fifth.

A day earlier, he jumped out from eleven on the grid in qualifying.

Right at the start of the race on Sunday, the Vilgertshofener overtook a few competitors and is now sixth.

After about five laps, the first raindrops began to fall and the drivers were warned by white and red flags.

The seventh round is canceled.

The day is not over for the pilots - there should be a new start, the race will be shortened to ten laps.

The starting grid is based on the stand after the six laps driven - Schrötter was sixth.

But because it starts to rain again right at the next warm-up, it goes back to the pits before the decisive race starts.

Schrötter is now in second place

And that is where Schrötter got a good line.

He races up three places and is in third place.

But the 27-year-old wants more, he lies in wait for mistakes by the Spaniard Xavi Vierge, and tries to overtake several times.

Schrötter also manages to pull past, but Vierge already hits back in the next corner.

The close battle for second place ends when the two motorcycles touch, Vierge falls and lands in the gravel.

When he gets up, he claps in frustration in the direction of Schrötter, who remains seated on his Kalex, but loses space that he can no longer do well.

He crosses the line in fifth.

Schrötter is still satisfied.

"I think we can talk about a good Sunday this time." For the first time he drove his new, soft rear tire - and got along really well.

The interruptions, however, did not fit into the concept of Schrötter's team “Liqui Moly Intact GP”.

“We didn't have a new tire of this type available for the restart,” says Schrötter.

However, the opponents who had previously chosen the harder variant were able to “put in a new, soft tire” during the break.

Nevertheless, the duel with Vierge was more likely the reason for the missed podium.

“It was a tough fight with Xavi Vierge,” says Schrötter.

“He was incredibly fast on the straights and also very strong on the brakes.

So it was brutally difficult for me to get past him. "

The Moto2 riders will hardly have time to catch their breath in the near future.

There are eight races in the next ten weeks.

The next is the Grand Prix of Catalonia in Spain on Sunday, September 27th.

A violent fall briefly shakes his success.

Marcel Schrötter was not satisfied.

In Brno he only finished 15th. It wasn't the operated arm that caused him problems.
