A very interesting acquisition for Hapoel Jerusalem: Greek coordinator Nikos Papas has signed a one-month contract with an option to extend until the end of the season.
Papas (30, 1.96m) has played for Panathinaikos in recent years and was an important part of the Greek Empire until a year and a half ago he tore the ligament in his knee and has since struggled to get back on his feet.
At the beginning of the summer, he was a candidate for Hapoel Tel Aviv, but rejected her offer.
The Greek quarterback will come as a backup to the back line following the injury of Jacoben Brown, with the club still unsure about the fitness of Chris Kramer who was injured last season in the Moscow Khimki and has not actually played for more than half a year.
According to sources involved in the details, Brown's shoulder injury is probably not as serious as initially thought and neither Kramer nor Papas may stay in the capital for a long time unless one of them impresses a lot during next week's Champions League Final 8 tournament in Athens.
