PSG want to extend Angel Di Maria's lease

The capital club wants to extend the contract of its striker which ends at the end of the season. But Di Maria does not rule out re

Angel Di Maria will not undergo the same treatment as Edinson Cavani and Thiago Silva.

While the Argentinian's contract ends at the end of the season, PSG do not plan to part ways with their striker at the end of their tenure as they did for the Brazilian defender and the 'Uruguayan center-forward.

And it is not the case of spitting and the four games of suspension which the native of Rosario received that will encourage the champions of France to change their minds.

Di Maria and PSG have started discussing a contract extension for several weeks.

It would be for an extension of two or three seasons if the negotiations were to succeed.

These have been slowed down by the Covid-19 crisis and the spread of the virus across the planet, which have severely limited travel capacity.

The negotiations could, however, accelerate with the imminent arrival in France of the Argentine representative of Fideo (the latter has not worked with the super agent Jorge Mendes for four years now).

Because the Di Maria file, like those of Mbappé and Neymar, is one of the most urgent that Leonardo must deal with.

Next January, the Parisian number 11 will be free to engage with the club of his choice.

And we saw with Thomas Meunier who had signed in February 2020 with Dortmund that things can go very quickly.

Despite his 32 years (he will celebrate his 33 years next February), Di Maria remains one of the most successful and regular players in the Parisian workforce.

Very attached to his native land

Almost never injured, he has been living again for two seasons under the direction of Thomas Tuchel.

The German loves his right winger who gives him back his confidence on the pitch (41 games, 12 goals in 2019-2020, 45 games, 19 goals in 2018-2019).

It remains to be seen what the player really wants.

If PSG is his number 1 choice in Europe, the 2014 vice-world champion did not rule out returning to Argentina at the end of the season.

The native of Rosario is very attached to his native land and, as always with the Di Maria, the opinion of his wife Jorgelina Cardoso will weigh in the final decision.

If he were to return to the country next summer, El Fideo could then end his career there.

He had also started in 2006 with CA Rosario, his training club, before joining Benfica in Portugal a year later.

For Di Maria, the circle would then come full circle.

But that would not necessarily do the business of Paris which would lose one of its best assets in attack.
