Manchester United won 3-2 (1-1) against Brighton & Hove Albion in the second Premier League game of the season.

The team trained by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer benefited from a late VAR decision.

The game was over and music was playing in Brighton's stadium when the video assistant intervened.

In the final scene of the game, Manchester captain Harry Maguire headed a high ball in the penalty area.

From close range, the ball hit Neal Maupay's forearm, who held it too high.

Referee Chris Kavanagh initially overlooked the handball, did not hesitate and whistled the game, but then watched the scene for himself and granted United a hand penalty.

The Portuguese Bruno Fernandes converted with a sure shot (90 + 9 minutes).

The other goals were scored by Maupay (40th, penalty kick), Lewis Dunk (43rd, own goal), Marcus Rashford (55th) and Solly March (90th + 5).

Brighton hits the goal frame five times

The fact that United had led for a long time was mainly due to the hosts' bad luck.

Five times the goal frame prevented a goal for Brighton, Leoandro Trossard alone hit the aluminum three times.

The superior team had also taken the lead when Fernandes fouled Tariq Lamptey in their own penalty area and Maupay used the penalty to make it 1-0.

But only a little later Lewis Dunk underwent an own goal when Nemanja Matic crossed it (43.).

Shortly after the break, Paul Pogba was lucky that his marginal effort in the duel with Aaron Connolly was not enough for a penalty.

Kavanagh pointed to the point, but his video assistant disagreed (48th).

In contrast, United became dangerous afterwards.

First a goal from Rashford was denied for offside (53.), but only two minutes later the England international struck again after a pass from Fernandes - and this time the goal counted (55.).

After the 2: 1, the Red Devils defended sluggishly and let the opponent come on many opportunities.

They were lucky for a long time before the overdue equalizer fell in stoppage time.

In the end, they won anyway.
