Erding - One day of bad weather, one day of sunshine: the Bavarian championships for athletes for women and men as well as the U 20 and U 18 junior athletes organized by TSV Erding had everything to offer in terms of weather.

The weekend on the facility in and around the Sepp-Brenninger-Stadion ran smoothly from start to finish, which TSV department manager Christian Weber and his team were pleased about.

The Erdinger participants showed good performances, the highlight was the silver medal from Sebastian Wölckert in the pole vault in the male U20.

On the first day, only Valentina Sailer from TSV was at the start.

The 16-year-old only started athletics a year ago and started over 400 meters in the U18. She had to deal with some older opponents, but the young lady from Erding started bravely and reached with a time of 60 , 86 seconds a good fifth place.

What is particularly noteworthy is that she had lowered her best performance by a whole second.

"I felt very good and the time is just great, I'm absolutely satisfied with that," said Sailer.

Christian Weber also praised the talent: “It just went really well for her.

She is still very young at 16 years of age.

Today was a great achievement. "

The time she ran in pouring rain, in “allergic weather”, as the head of department put it with a smile: “Nevertheless, the men and women performed very well on Saturday.

That speaks for our fast train. "

But on Sunday it looked completely different: The sun was shining from morning to afternoon, and Sailer was the first to start again.

This time she ran the 200 meters.

Even if she only came in fifth in her lead with 27.29 seconds - again she had achieved a best performance, again the 16-year-old was half a second better than ever before.

At the same time, the pole vaulters of the male U18 were already warming up.

Here, Maximilian Riedl, a medal candidate from Erding, went hunting for highs.

He also managed one valid attempt after the other - with 4.10 meters he celebrated a new personal record.

However, four other athletes flew over this altitude, and because of the larger number of unsuccessful attempts, Riedl only made fourth place.

Afterwards, Erdinger said: “I'm very satisfied with the performance, not entirely with the place.

I had hoped that it would be enough for a medal. "He tried in vain with a new, harder stick at the 4.20 meters:" Unfortunately, I could not adjust quickly enough. "

In terms of placement, things went better for Sebastian Wölckert in the U20 pole vault. The young man crossed a good 4.30 meters - after a year break, he couldn't go even higher that day.

"Given the circumstances, it wasn't bad at all," said Wölckert.

In the end, he was able to look forward to silver: "That is of course outstanding."

Christian Weber laughingly reported about a “special highlight” on Sunday: Hammer thrower Merlin Hummel from Kulmbach threw his device so far that he almost hit the sports host's car: “We were lucky again.”

Otherwise the TSV could look forward to an all-round successful event.

140 helpers from the host club and the Oberbayern Südost track and field team ensured that the 670 athletes - with 959 individual entries - could concentrate completely on their competitions.

Weber particularly praised the many judges: “They had everything under control.” There were no protests and only two false starts over the whole weekend.

And there was a prominent guest from politics: Stephan Mayer, Parliamentary Secretary of State in the Federal Ministry of the Interior, who said: “Such championships are something that is good these days.

It is remarkable that the track and field athletes manage that today. ”And he added:“ I am enthusiastic about the organizer, the organization is perfect. ”In Erding, Mayer met Gerhard Neubauer (President Bayerischer Athletics Association), DLV General Director Idriss Gonschinska and DLV Vice President Jochen Schweitzer.

After the competitions were over, everyone was happy that the championships had come to an end.

After all, it was the third major event for TSV Erding this year.

Everyone almost always adhered to the extensive hygiene measures at the competition venues, and Christian Weber's final conclusion was: "It just went great, we are all very, very satisfied with the way the championships went."
