SSC Napoli 's decision not to play the top Serie A game on Sunday evening at Italian champions Juventus due to several corona cases in the team and club may put the Covid 19 consensus between national sport and the government to a serious test.
The league threatened Napoli on Sunday with reference to an agreement with politicians that the match would be rated as a 3-0 defeat, while the club justified its behavior with a travel ban by the local health authorities.
Another game was canceled
According to the League Association, Napoli should have traveled to Turin despite the positive tests with two players and a club employee.
For such cases as in Naples, the relevant guidelines provide that a team with players who tested negative would have to compete.
Napoli, on the other hand, stressed the authority of the health authorities in his city, which had banned travel.
The club sent its professionals to home quarantine, which is only to be interrupted for driving to and participating in training.
In fact, isolated infections in Italy's anti-corona rules for sport are not a reason for rejection.
These guidelines were also used in various games.
In contrast, the match between Genoa FC and Turin FC was canceled on Saturday after Genoa reported 22 corona cases.
Courts may now have to decide on the evaluation of the game between Juventus and the SSC in the near future.
