Olympique Lyonnais goalkeeper Anthony Lopes tested positive for Covid-19 and has left the squad of the Portugal team which will face France on Sunday in the League of Nations, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF ).

Lopes is also the second OL international tested positive this week, after Léo Dubois who had to leave the France team on Tuesday.

"The Portuguese international Anthony Lopes tested positive for Covid-19 Thursday evening and was exempted from the work of the national team," the FPF announced in a statement.

The native of Givors (Rhône) will be replaced by Vitoria Guimarães goalkeeper Bruno Varela, who will however be tested before joining Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates, the federation later indicated.

Postponed arrival in Paris

Lopes is the second confirmed case of coronavirus detected in the Seleção during this international truce.

Lille defender José Fonte had to leave the selection on the eve of the friendly match against Spain, which ended in a draw (0-0) Wednesday in Lisbon.

The teammates of the Lyon goalkeeper, as well as the management of the Portugal team, were to undergo a new series of tests on Friday before training at the end of the day.

Their departure for Paris was therefore postponed until Saturday, an FPF spokesperson told AFP.

Portugal will challenge the Blues on Sunday in Saint-Denis before receiving Sweden on Wednesday in Lisbon, also in the League of Nations.
