For the fourth time in his career, veteran striker Robinho (36) returns to Santos, the club where he started before wearing the colors of Real Madrid, AC Milan or Manchester City.

The Brazilian striker signed a five-month contract, for a symbolic salary of 1,500 reals, or about 230 euros, announced in a statement Santos FC, the former club of Pelé and Neymar in particular.

The player's contract includes bonuses for achieving goals and a clause for a one-year and seven-month renewal.

This transfer is controversial due to the conviction in absentia in 2017 of Robson de Souza, said Robinho, for nine years in prison by an Italian court, for acts of gang rape dating back to 2013, when he played for the AC Milan.

Robinho, claiming to be innocent, had appealed.

The striker had been without a club since last August, when his contract with Istanbul Basakeshir ended, after two seasons in Turkey.

“This has always been my home here.

Robinho started his career in 2002 before joining Madrid in 2005. He had already returned to his training club twice, in 2010, on loan from Manchester City, and in 2014-15, on loan from Milan.

He won the championship in Brazil (2002, 2004), Spain (2007, 2008), Italy (2011), China (2015) and Turkey (2020).

Ex-Brazilian international (100 caps, 28 goals), he won the Confederations Cup (2005, 2009) and the 2007 Copa América with the Seleção.
