It had been more than nine years since a Renault driver had set foot on a Formula 1 podium. Third in the Eifel Grand Prix (Germany) on Sunday, Australian Daniel Ricciardo allowed the French team to relish the flavor of a podium.

This had not happened since the success of the German Nick Heidfeld at the Malaysian Grand Prix in 2011 (or since 2013 if we take into account the victories of Lotus).

With mischief, Ricciardo recalled that it was agreed that in the event of a Renault returning to a podium, its general manager Cyril Abiteboul should go to the tattoo artist in order to engrave this moment of sport in the flesh.

"It is true that we will have to look into this, with something that will probably have a connection with me ... and embellished with a little German specificity", the driver laughed after the race.

Mick Schumacher donates helmet to Hamilton

Meanwhile, the Lewis Hamilton machine won its seventh Grand Prix out of eleven this season.

And what a victory.

For the 91st time in his prodigious career, the Briton got out of his car while touching his heart, thanking his team.

And thanks to this umpteenth success, the Mercedes driver equaled the record of victories of the immense Michael Schumacher (91).

Starting second on the Nürburgring track, his silver arrow beat Max Verstappen (Redbull), benefiting in particular from the mechanical problems of his teammate Valtteri Bottas, forced to retire.

Hamilton consolidates a little more his position as leader of the championship, and was offered a red helmet from Michael Schumacher, handed over by Mick, the son of the seven-time world champion and still in a vegetative state.

A poignant tribute.
