The chairman of the football leagues, Erez Kalfon, and the chairman of the basketball league sent a letter to Prime Minister Netanyahu this morning (Monday) demanding that professional sports return to activity as early as next Wednesday, and in the afternoon the captains of the soccer Premier League teams followed suit.

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Health Minister Yuli Edelstein, we, the captains of the Premier League football teams, are asking you today for a simple thing: that you treat us according to the same standards that you demand of us," the captains' letter read.

They added: "Be professional. Make decisions with discretion - because they affect others as well. Lead and make brave choices - even when it is difficult. Take responsibility, and take into account the consequences of your actions.

"Football training in Israel has been suspended for 3 weeks. At this point in time, continuing the situation means crushing the football season. Institutional allocations are disappearing. Some of our teams are in danger of tangible activity. And we - we can not just suddenly return to professional activity. It just does not work. Behind us - hundreds of thousands of fans, who feel orphaned, in front of us - families in complete uncertainty.

"This is the moment to recover. We, for our part, will be happy to meet any reasonable and reasonable health outline in order to return to training. In fact, the outlines set by the authorities - are completely applicable for us to return to training right now. The easiest to close, everything, in Mecca. Is it wise? Does Israeli sports really have to stand at this point in time - yes, even with the virus in the background - in danger of survival?

"We think differently. And demand attention. Bring the sport back to life - at the last minute possible."
