The Champions League match between Olympiakos and Olympique de Marseille, this Wednesday, will finally take place behind closed doors, after a new decision by the Greek Prime Minister on Tuesday banning any return of supporters to the country's stadiums from this week.

The presence in the stands of spectators, even few in number, "sends the wrong message to citizens, at a time when any gathering must be avoided, and health measures strictly observed," said the head of government Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

On Monday, the Hellenic government authorized the return to stadiums of a limited number of football supporters from this week and under strict rules, after seven months in camera due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The Champions League meeting between Olympiakos and Olympique de Marseille on Wednesday in Piraeus was to be the first affected by this relaxation with the presence of 3,500 supporters.
