Former France goalkeeper Bruno Martini died today at the age of 58 after suffering a heart attack at the Montpellier training center last week.
Reuters quoted the club as saying in a statement that French football had lost one of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of French football and one of Montpellier's most loyal goalkeepers on and off the field.
The club's management explained that Martini spent most of his career at Auxerre and Montpellier and played 31 matches for France over 18 years before becoming a goalkeeper coach with the national team that won the European Championship in 2000 and finished second in the 2006 World Cup.
