Valenciennes goalkeeper Jérôme Prior accused Sochaux midfielder Ousseynou Thioune of having bitten him.
The latter disputed the facts and specified that he had been subjected to racist remarks.
"In view of the nature of the facts, the Disciplinary Commission decides to place the case under investigation," the Professional Football League said in a statement on Wednesday.
Saturday, at the end of the match (0-0), a scuffle broke out on the lawn between the players of the two teams.
On the images of beIN Sports, we see Thioune approaching very close to Prior, before the latter reacts suddenly to push back his opponent.
No bite according to Thioune ...
After the incident, VAFC coach Olivier Guégan and chairman Eddy Zdziech both assured that the northern goalkeeper had a “bite” on the cheek.
The Senegalese midfielder maintains for his part that Prior told him "break yourself, dirty black" twice.
"On this second time, then yes, I said + we go out and we will explain ourselves on that."
I put my head against his cheek, it's true.
And, yes, I was pissed off, I wanted to give it a head butt.
But when I thought about it, I pulled my head back.
There was no bite ... ", Thioune told the local daily L'Est Républicain.
