Paul Pogba, the big star of Manchester United and the French national team, intends to retire from the national team he led to winning the last World Cup.
This is according to reports coming from the Middle East.
The reason: a statement by French President Emmanuel Macron that "Islam is the source of global terrorism".
Pogba reportedly made the decision as early as last Friday after Macron's statement and also following the French government's decision to honor the memory of the teacher whose head was beheaded after publishing offensive cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.
These reports were first published in the media in the Middle East, but neither the association nor the French association confirmed the things and have not yet commented on it.

Recall, President Macron described the assassination of teacher Samuel Patti as an "Islamic terrorist attack" that robbed the teacher of his life.
He added that "determination and firmness are the only answers to monstrous Islamic terrorism."
Pogba, 27, is a Muslim himself and sees Macron's actions as an "attack on the Muslim French" in a country where Islam is the second largest religion after Christianity.
Pogba is one of the big stars of the French national team in recent years.
The contact, who was born to parents from Guinea, recorded 72 appearances in the national uniform and scored ten goals.
Pogba was one of the tricolor's most influential players in his recent World Cup win and is also considered its leader in the locker room.
His retirement from the national team may shock the country, also because of its broad political context and not just the sporting one.
