AS Saint-Étienne announced Monday to appeal the decision of the legal committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) ordering him to reinstate goalkeeper Stéphane Ruffier, removed from the group since July.
In a statement, ASSE said that Ruffier, 34, was dismissed of his requests concerning the challenge of the disciplinary sanctions imposed on him.
"The committee felt that it was not up to it to rule on their merits or even to assess their proportionality", writes the club.
However, AS Saint-Étienne indicates to appeal after the legal commission "demanded the reinstatement" of the doorman "while he has never been sidelined".
The Forézien club "intends to reaffirm that the player benefits, in strict compliance with the provisions of the Professional Football Charter, from the same training conditions as all of his teammates and that he can participate in as many sessions, if not more. than previous seasons. "

This season, Claude Puel announced that Ruffier would not be integrated into the trio of goalkeepers of the professional workforce, composed of Jessy Moulin, Stefan Bagic and Étienne Green, a choice he reaffirmed on October 16.
In July, Ruffier was the subject of a six-day disciplinary layoff with payroll deduction "for act of insubordination", a delay in training that the player disputes.
Stéphane Ruffier, who enjoys one of the highest salaries in the professional workforce (approximately 2.8 million euros annually) has been in dispute with ASSE since February 23 after the decision of general manager Claude Puel to put him to rest for the Ligue 1 match against Reims (1-1).
This decision had provoked the anger of his agent Patrick Glanz who had attacked Puel harshly.
In response, club management sued Mr. Glanz.
This summer, Puel had affirmed that Stéphane Ruffier would have informed him of his refusal to be the understudy of Moulin, appointed goalkeeper number 1, which the person concerned denied, arguing, in a press release from his lawyer, that we do not had never offered him the role of number 2. Ruffier is at the end of his contract on June 30.
