The cup derby should take place anyway.

Hallbergmoos / Freising

 - The games should continue.

The football teams of VfB Hallbergmoos and SE Freising have agreed to play the duel between the regional league clubs in the league cup competition.

It should start on Friday (7.30 p.m.) in Hallbergmoos - even if only 50 spectators are allowed into the stadium.

Whether this and other games will take place next weekend, however, still depends on possible regulations from Bavarian state politics.

Most recently, the number of new corona infections in the past seven days in the district was just under 100 people per 100,000 inhabitants.

On Tuesday, however, that incidence mark was broken - 108.1.

For the football clubs, this means that the number of admitted spectators would decrease from 200 to 50.

Not included are players, coaches and functional staff.

Anselm Küchle is not expecting many spectators anyway

The sports director of VfB Hallbergmoos, Anselm Küchle, confirmed to the Freisinger Tagblatt on Tuesday that they would compete in front of a maximum of 50 visitors.

At the game in the less significant league cup, he does not expect many people in the stadium anyway, given the uninviting weather forecasts and the corona fears among the population.

If regular guests are not allowed into the stadium due to the restriction, Küchle sees no problems: "The people understand this situation - and we novices in virology can do nothing other than implement and comply with all the rules to the maximum."

"We would play if we were allowed to on Friday," says Küchle.

He is aware that in Corona times the framework conditions can change daily.

Should there be new regulations from the Federal Republic of Germany, the Free State of Bavaria, the district of Freising or the municipality of Hallbergmoos, the derby could still be canceled from the outside.

Something could come up at any time.

VfB official harbors gloomy fears

In the medium term, the functionary of VfB Hallbergmoos fears further increasing corona numbers and consequences for football, which could possibly go into the winter break after the league cup game against Freising.

"All the teams have played many games in the Landesliga Südost," says Küchle, for whom a continuation of the league in spring would not be a problem.

In addition, the league cup has a rather subordinate importance.

"I don't envy the association for the decisions that have to be made," says the sports director of VfB Hallbergmoos.

For him it was the right decision to continue the season after the lockdown: "Other national associations have canceled their round - and now they have two broken seasons."
