Monza sensation winner Pierre Gasly will also drive for AlphaTauri in the 2021 Formula 1 season.
The racing team announced this.
It is still open who will be the 24-year-old French's teammate in the coming year.
Daniil Kwjat currently occupies the second cockpit.
The Russian will have a hard time getting confirmed after mixed performances.
After the strong performances this season, Gasly was considered a candidate for returning to sister team Red Bull Racing.
There the Thai Alexander Albon limps to the World Cup third Dutchman, but he was demoted after twelve races and replaced by Albon.
At Red Bull, there is a great desire to have a second driver in addition to Verstappen who can reliably get into the points or even onto the podium.
Gasly and Albon failed because of this - also because the car is tailored to Verstappen.
Most recently, motorsport consultant Helmult Marko talked about looking around outside of your own driver pool.
The most likely external options are Nico Hülkenberg (currently without a regular cockpit) and Sergio Pérez from Mexico, who has been sorted out for Vettel at Racing Point.
Hülkenberg had completed three races for Racing Point and impressed.
In Formula 1, after Gasly's extension, seven cockpits are still vacant for the coming season.
At Mercedes, world champion Lewis Hamilton's contract extension is still pending, but is considered certain.
Both places in the Ferrari customer teams Alfa Romeo and Haas are also open.
There Mick Schumacher is traded, who will fight for the world title in Formula 2 in Bahrain at the end of November.
