In a statement published on social media, Alexander Zverev rejected the statements of his former girlfriend Olga Scharypova.

Scharypova had publicly accused the tennis professional of being violent towards her.

According to the Russian, Zverev tried to "strangle her with a pillow" in New York in August 2019.

The German top player wrote about the allegations on Twitter and Instagram: "That makes me sad. We have known each other since we were children and have seen a lot together. I very much regret that she expresses herself this way. Because the allegations simply do not correspond the truth."

Zverev also wrote: "We had a relationship that ended a long time ago. I cannot explain why Olga is making these allegations now. I very much hope that we both find a way to be sensible and respectful with each other again."

"I will be a father at the age of 23"

He described the past few days as "challenging".

On Wednesday, Brenda Patea, with whom Zverev was dating until August of this year, made public that she was expecting a child from her former partner.

The hamburger has now also confirmed this.

"I'll be a father at the age of 23. And I'm really looking forward to the child. Even if Brenda and I are no longer together, we have a good relationship and I will live up to my responsibility as a father. We will look after little people together who is growing up, "he wrote.

He does not want to say more publicly on this private topic.

"I'm sure that Brenda and I can do it without the media," emphasized Zverev, who recently made positive headlines and won both ATP tournaments in Cologne.
