The corona crisis hits the stick shooters hard.

The league operation in summer was canceled and there is no play in winter either.

Even the Budnesliga Süd has now been canceled.

Peiting - It has been clear since this week at the latest that the stick shooters of TSV Peiting are not facing an easy winter.

Because it became known that the ice stock Bundesliga South will not be played.

From the 2nd Bundesliga down to the regional league, the season was canceled by the Bavarian Ice Sports Association (BEV) in September.

For Christian Lindner from TSV Peiting, the cancellation of the Bundesliga is a joke.

According to the statutes, teams for the German championship must be reported by the respective country chairman.

In Bavaria this is Alois Bosl.

"He refuses to register teams for the championship," complains Lindner.

Therefore, the Bundesliga South, in which only Bavarian teams start, did not come about.

Without the goal of starting at the German championship, even a league operation is of no value.

For Bosl, it is schizophrenic when the Bundesliga is played and all leagues have to rest under it.

“Then it happens that the first team plays in the same club and the second doesn't.

Nobody would understand that and would be absurd. ”The regional chairman justifies the fact that the lower leagues cannot be played with the fact that, due to various hygiene concepts, sometimes only 56 people are allowed into the hall at the same time or must be aired for 20 minutes after two hours of play.

Six circles had already decided not to play this winter before the cancellation.

"It was too risky for the athletes because the average age there was over 60," explains Bosl.

Stick shooters fear membership decline

Lindner rumbled: “Officials are there to ensure that the sport is maintained.

The state takes care of your health. ”Since it is currently allowed, you should also play.

How it is possible, the Peitinger showed last weekend with the BaLu-Cup in their own hall (see below).

"Stick shooting is the only team sport that is played without contact," says Lindner.

"We don't have to touch each other and can keep the distance." To ensure this, the World Ice Stock Association even overruled a rule that says that only one player may stand behind the boundary line.

The stave should be moved with the feet or by the referee wearing gloves.

Lindner fears that the stick shooters will lose members.

“We'll get the receipt in five to ten years,” the world association chairman is certain.

Young people switch to other sports and senior citizens who have not played for over a year stop.

"The fact is that the majority of stock shooters are between 30 and 45 years old, but we also have a large group between 50 and 75 years of age," explains Lindner.

"It's great like that, but the older ones always have to be pushed to play."

Smaller tournaments are allowed

“At least we want to keep the youth in the game,” says Alois Bosl.

He also sees the danger of losing the youngsters to other sports.

Otherwise, however, he received great approval for the decisions.

“The stick shooters are understanding,” he says.

So far, no team has canceled.

The stick shooters of TSV Peiting have completed their training as usual.

“We train every Wednesday,” reports Lindner.

In order not to have to do without a competition, the Peitinger team will play various smaller tournaments.

A duo tournament is planned for next week in Peiting.

The European Cup is scheduled for the end of November.

Positive conclusion after the BaLu Cup

For the stick shooters of TSV Peiting it was the first tournament of the winter season.

They held the “International BaLu Cup” in the ice rink at home.

Out of eleven participating teams, the TSV teams ended up in seventh and ninth place.

"The field of participants was very strong," says Christian Lindner from TSV.

The stick shooters of TSV Hartpenning won ahead of the German national team and EC Planegg-Geisenbrunn.

But more important than the sporting result for the Peiting was to adhere to the measures.

“It couldn't be better,” is Lindner's conclusion.

“All stick shooters wore masks and only took them off to play.

Sports bags were parked at the specified places, ”says the Peitingen team spokesman.

And after the award ceremony on the ice rink, everyone left the ice rink immediately.
