Maccabi Tel Aviv admitted last night (Thursday) that they created the perfect scenario in Turkey in the victory over Sibaspur in the second round of the Europa League (1: 2).

Beyond the three important points that make an important advance towards the continuation of the fight for the two tickets to the knockout stage of the Europa League, Maccabi Tel Aviv returned to Israel in the morning with a completely different mood than the one with which they took off for Turkey yesterday morning.

One of the team's players said last night on the way to the airport: "What went through my mind before the game is the script that Barcelona had this week. After their loss in the Clasico to Real Madrid, the club was down and the criticism celebrated then they went to Turin and came back with a win over Juventus. "We went to Turkey after the draw against Hapoel Beer Sheva in a depressed mood and with a lot of criticism and here we are returning to Israel with a different mood towards Maccabi Haifa. This is the beauty of football and every game can change the whole atmosphere at the club."

The victory over the Turks last night is in fact a significant boost for the Maccabi Tel Aviv players ahead of the game against Maccabi Haifa on Monday.

"It is clear to everyone that this is a game with enormous significance and it is good that we returned from Turkey with a victory that will give back the confidence to everyone," Maccabi Tel Aviv said last night.

Coach Georgios Donis complimented the players on the investment, effort and character they discovered after falling behind, but the Greek admits in closed-door talks that the team can and must spend more of itself and is still far from happy with the performance in terms of attacking play.

Donis is convinced that despite the closed lineup with three brakes, Maccabi Tel Aviv is able to produce much better offensive football and he is convinced that he will eventually succeed in getting the team to play better football.

Beyond the victory and the team's achievement, Maccabi Tel Aviv last night also gained several players individually in Turkey.

The first is Dor Peretz.

The contact already felt at the beginning of the season that he is fully recovering, including for the Israeli team after almost a year of injury and even testified that last season's corona break did him good, but then he contracted the virus himself and was disabled for a long time.

The goal that Peretz scored yesterday and his good performance should lift him back and be the same player whose role is above the league here in the country.

By the way, it is not clear if Donis will go with him to the game against Maccabi Haifa or if he wants to give him a rest and keep him for the game against Villarreal away next Thursday, but in the meantime, Dor Peretz will return from Turkey after the goal he scored, a better player.

Another player who made the development last night and from here he is supposed to strengthen Maccabi Tel Aviv is Alexander Peshich.

Maccabi Tel Aviv waited for the Serbian striker and gave him time to train and return gradually since he has not played too much in the last year.

His entry as a substitute in the second half was exactly for the good minutes of Maccabi Tel Aviv in which it also made the difference in the result when Peshich starts the great move on the way to Peretz's goal that set 1: 2.

Maccabi Tel Aviv does not yet mark the striker as a success, but Peshich started yesterday on the right foot in Maccabi Tel Aviv and may even start in the squad on Monday in Haifa.

The third player to be hired last night is Avi Rikan.

It takes Avi Rikan some time to prove to every Maccabi Tel Aviv coach his value.

Since arriving at Maccabi Tel Aviv in the summer of 2015, he finally finds the path to the hearts of the foreign coaches that Maccabi Tel Aviv brings and everyone appreciates him.

Last night Donis trusted him and sent him into the squad and even after Riken missed the opportunity he had in the first half, the Greek did not take him out in the second half but believed in him and got great cooking from him for Peretz's winning goal.

The 6 points that Maccabi Tel Aviv has this morning in the Europa League, raised the level of belief that it is possible to finish between the first two.

This is a great achievement for Maccabi Tel Aviv, which, as we remember in its last appearance in the Europa League three years ago, managed to beat Villarreal only in the last round of the Europa League, which Maccabi Tel Aviv will meet on Thursday.

Beyond the cash bonus of 570,000 euros for another victory, Maccabi Tel Aviv believe they have the strength to qualify from the home stage.

Quite a few teams have known in the past to move up from the home stage with 8 points, so Maccabi Tel Aviv will try to get at least one more victory from the four games left, to meet the task and move up from one of the first two places at home.
