Only last Wednesday did Novak Djokovic secure for the sixth time in his career first place at the end of the season, but tonight (Friday) recorded a surprising relegation when he lost in the quarterfinals of the Vienna tournament against the ranked 42 Lorenzo Songo.
The Serb was not at all an opponent of the 25-year-old Italian and lost unconditionally 6: 2, 6: 1 in just 70 minutes.
Songo hit No. 1 with eight aces with no double errors, while Nola had 3 of those.
Andrei Rublev also advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Austrian Dominic Tim.
The eighth-ranked team won the first set in the teeth after 6: 7 (5), but in the second it seems that its third-ranked opponent got the wind out of the sails, and the Russian sailed towards 2: 6 and won two sets.

A big surprise was also recorded in the meeting between Danil Medvedev, ranked 6th, and South African Quinn Anderson, who was ranked only 111th.
The Russian did not even manage to win a single set, and was eliminated after an embarrassing 6: 4, 7: 6 (5).
The final ticket to the semi-finals will be determined at the end of the meeting between Gregor Dmitrov (20) and Daniel Evans of Britain (33).
