In Africa, Asia and South America, qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar has already started.

At the end of March 2021, the first three match days will also start in Europe.

The groups will be drawn on December 7th (6pm) in Zurich, with the German team having secured a place in the first pot with their victories against the Czech Republic and Ukraine before the 6-0 debacle in Spain.

This means that the DFB-Elf avoids the supposedly toughest opponents such as France, Italy, Belgium or England.

The 13 European starters for the tournament are determined in ten groups.

Only the winners of the respective group are directly qualified, the ten runners-up play the three other participants.

Germany will likely play in a group with a total of six teams.

Because groups that only consist of five participants are reserved for the four participants in the Nations League finals.

Some teams cannot be drawn against each other, for example due to long trips or political tensions.

Fifa has broken down all the restrictions here.

The ten game days will be played between March and November 2021, the play-offs to determine the last three European starters will follow in March 2022.
