Summary: The best performance of Diego Armando Maradona (Sport 1)

It happened when I was in lunch training.

I went home and got calls from journalists from Argentina and Greece.

I did not believe.

He's the kind of person you did not believe would ever die, he's like God.

There was a feeling that no matter what happened - he would survive.

We knew his condition was bad but subconsciously you can not think about it, I believed he would live a long time.

I'm broken, he was everything to me, a big part of my childhood died in an instant.

We connected to the game and wanted to be professionals for two reasons - the ball and Maradona.

We fell in love with both of them equally.

He was the legend of my life, our superhero.

Kids in the world dreamed of being Superman or Batman, in Argentina the superhero was Maradona.

He did not fly or jump like superheroes but wore the number 10 shirt and soccer shoes, but he was ours.

This is a sad day for football and our country, Argentina would no longer be the same without it.

Many Argentines like to tell about what Maradona was like for them, but a foreigner will never be able to understand the feelings.

What he did to the country in 1986 is not something that can be repeated.

He was everything for people, human God, in all the hustle and bustle he made people smile, in all the trouble people knew that someday there was a game of Argentina and Diego Armando Maradona, it was enough for them to survive, he was the oxygen of the country.

I am asked how I relate to the last few years and the scandals that have accompanied him in life.

We learned to embrace him in any situation.

The joy he brought to Argentina was so much greater than the bad things, that it was very easy to forget him.

He was the blood of the people, so it was impossible to be angry with him.

"He did bad things, but in relation to the joy he caused people, it was nothing. In Argentina, what he gave to football is worth much more, it is the lives of the people."

For my generation he will always be the greatest.

I love Messi, but it's a different world, at the level of authenticity and connection to the country, Maradona was not just a great player, he was everything, much more than any person in Argentina, it can not be compared to any other player and I think it will not be possible to compare.

Maybe in the future there will be more exceptional Argentine players, but what he gave to the country will not come back, it starts from how he grew up, without food, water and electricity, he slept on the floor and from there he grew, from nothing to the world famous athlete, I do not think another story like this will come back.

The biggest moment is of course the game against England, in the background of which was the Falklands War in which many Argentine soldiers were killed and it was a kind of revenge.

Maradona was inconceivable in that game, a dream of football, people remember this game as if it were today, I remember after the game people took to the streets and cried, cried non-stop, I as a child was happy and did not understand why the tears.

Anyone who has not been there will not understand how every Argentine felt.

He bought the heart of the country in this game, we won 1: 2 and he scored the double.

Who can score two such goals in the same game, the two most famous goals there are.

Even when he scored with his hand, we wanted to kiss his hand, we do not care what people think, it's just us and Diego, not to mention the second goal which I think is the biggest in history.

So it's true that Argentina would not be the same without him, but football would not be the same without him either.

Thank you for everything Diego, my superhero.
