Barcelona, the Spanish Premier League, announced today that it has reached an agreement with representatives of players and coaching staff to reduce salaries and postpone bonuses due to the financial impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Reuters quoted the club as saying in a statement that it is expected to save 172 million euros, including 122 million euros from players' salaries this season and 50 million by postponing bonuses over three years.
The club added, "This initial agreement is awaiting approval by the players and coaching staff, and it will be an important step towards dealing with the current economic situation."
Last month, Barcelona reported losses of 97 million euros after tax in the 2019-2020 fiscal year, with revenues falling 14 percent.
