At the Bahrain Grand Prix, the French driver's car was cut in half before exploding in a fireball after a violent exit

The accident is appalling and the images as spectacular as they are astounding.

After a few hundred meters during the Bahrain Grand Prix, Frenchman Romain Grosjean (Haas) suffered a terrible accident.

By hitting the AlphaTauri of the Russian Daniil Kvyat, the Frenchman's single-seater went off the track to fit into a rail.

In an instant, however, the exit from the road became dramatic.

Under the shock, the Frenchman's car was embedded in a safety rail and under the effect of speed was cut in two before exploding.

Romain Grosjean extricated himself from the fireball after a few seconds, his helmet, gloves and shoes burnt.

By radio, he quickly reassured everyone about his general state of health.

A miracle.

Frightful images.

I have never seen that.

First installed in a safety car and not in an ambulance, Grosjean was then transported, obviously shocked.

The hesitant step, he was helped by two commissioners.

But the worst was avoided.

The International Federation (FIA) took several minutes before authorizing the dissemination of images of the accident and its miraculous conclusion.

The Grand Prix was immediately stopped while the fully exploded safety rail was changed.

Romain Grosjean was transported to hospital by helicopter.

According to his team, he suffers from minor burns.

"He's doing well, we were lucky," said GĂĽnther Steiner, owner of the Haas team.

He might have broken ribs.

For the moment, we don't want to know how or why, we just want to thank the doctors.
