After his 4th place on the opening giant in Sölden (Austria) in October, Pinturault wears the yellow bib of leader of the general classification of the World Cup from the 2nd race of the season with 150 points ahead of Kristoffersen (125 points).

In Austria, the title holder of the big Norwegian globe, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde was eliminated in the round of 16, taking 14th place.

A season thwarted last year

Last season, the cancellation of the last World Cup stage scheduled for March 14 and 15 in Kranjska Gora (Slovenia) due to the pandemic, as well as the finals of Cortina d'Ampezzo, deprived Pinturault of his last chances of success in the World Cup.

"I could not fight to try to defend my chances, for the giant or the big globe, it is the infuriating side", regretted Pinturault, finally 2nd of the giant with 6 points of Kristoffersen and 2nd of the general classification at 54 points from Norwegian Aleksander Kilde, while the last tests were supposed to favor him.

An outcome all the more frustrating for the Courchevel skier as he had only ceded command of the general a few days earlier, thanks to the descent from Kvitfjell (Norway).

Annoyances which, obviously, did not prevent Pinturault from restarting the new season on a high basis.
