PSG: first pro contract for young Italian goalkeeper Denis Franchi

Present in the club since July 2019, Denis Franchi is committed until June 2023 with Paris. He plays with the U19 team of the club


Denis Franchi signs his first professional contract with PSG.

The capital club formalized the news on Monday.

“Arrived at the Training Center in July 2019, Denis Franchi plays with the U19 team of Paris Saint-Germain with which he played 16 matches in the French U19 Championship and 4 matches in the Gambardella Cup, writes Paris in a press release.

In recent months, he has joined the professional group on several occasions, notably participating in training sessions.

Last season, the native of Pordenone, in northeastern Italy, was also the starting goalkeeper for the Rouge et Bleu in the UEFA Youth League (5 games), the U19 Champions League.

Born in October 2002, Franchi has just reached the age of majority.

He signed up until June 30, 2023. He started his young career with Italian club Prata Falchi Visinale, a team from his hometown of Pordenone.

In August 2028, he was loaned to the U17 team of Udinese.

He has played 20 games with the U17 B team.

In October, he was called up by Italy's U19 team coach Carmine Nunziata to take part in an internship at Centro Sportivo Novarello in Rome.

For the moment, he has passed all the stages which generally lead to the Hopes selection, then if the progression continues to the A.

He becomes the third Italian goalkeeper in the QSI era to sign a pro contract after Salvatore Sirigu (2011-2017) and Gianluigi Buffon (2018-2019).

Last March, only eight months after his arrival, Denis Franchi gave interviews in Italian while already understanding French perfectly.
