In the top game of the 2nd Bundesliga, Holstein Kiel prevailed against VfL Bochum at the beginning of the 10th matchday.

Due to the 3: 1 (1: 1), Kiel are temporarily in first place in the table with 19 points, while VfL Bochum is in third place with two points less.

The Kieler struggled to start their game: Bochum had more possession, Bochum had better chances.

Simon Zoller could have put the guests in the lead after a chip ball hit the six-yard area (16th minute).

The first goal was a lot for Kiel - not without a little luck: Bochum's central defender Armel Bella-Kotchap failed a header attempt, instead the ball jumped to the hand of the 18-year-old.

After a review by the video referee, Kiel's Alexander Mühling hit the penalty spot for the lead (31st).

Zoller equalized immediately: after a ricochet from Lee Jae-sung, Maxim Leitsch brought a cross sharply in front of the goal, Zoller pushed the ball over the line from five meters (33rd).

Kiel got better in the second half and created more opportunities.

Fin Bartels (64th) and Lee (65th) decided the game with a double strike, another great chance Lee jumped back from the inside post into the field (72nd).

At the weekend, Hamburger SV and Greuther Fürth have a chance of pushing Kiel back from the top of the table.

For first division relegated Fortuna Düsseldorf, the main goal in the home game against SV Darmstadt 98 was to maintain a comfortable distance from the table cellar.

That succeeded, Fortuna won 3-2 (0-0) - also thanks to a remarkable tactical measure by trainer Uwe Rösler.

In the initial phase, he had to observe that his team had major problems with committed Darmstadters who, through Tobias Kempe (9th) and Paik Seung-ho (13th), gave good chances of taking the lead.

After 20 minutes, goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier signaled an injury - Rösler used the break and called his field players, who then formed the four instead of the original three-man chain.

Kastenmeier was able to continue playing.

Five goals in the second half

Düsseldorf was now better in the game.

At the beginning of the second half there was still the goal: Darmstadt's top scorer Serdar Dursun scored with his seventh goal of the season to take the lead (50th), Rouwen Hennings equalized on the other side with a remarkable free-kick from 20 meters away (56th).

First Darmstadt took the lead again.

Kempe shot a penalty in the center of the goal after Kelvin Ofori kicked Fabian Holland down in the penalty area (67th).

Kenan Karaman equalized with the back of his head (77th).

In the end, Ofori and Holland were the focus again: The Düsseldorf player fired a deflected shot, Holland saved the offside for substitute Dawid Kownacki, who shot the free ball into the goal for the Düsseldorf victory (89th).
