Sports are currently prohibited in the amateur sector.

This does not yet have a negative effect on the number of members in the clubs.

District

- The Bavarian State Sports Association (BLSV) sees difficult times for the sports clubs.

He expects a massive drop in membership numbers due to the corona pandemic.

Throughout Bavaria, the BLSV expects a decline of well over 100,000 members by the end of 2020, and the prospects for the coming year are also quite bleak.

The clubs in the region are currently not so critical of the effects of the closure of the sports facilities and the club sport that has come to a complete standstill.

The larger clubs are more likely to be affected by the decline in membership, while the smaller ones in the villages have so far got off relatively lightly.

"Our members are very loyal," reports Martin Schmölz, chairman of

TSV Bernbeuren

, of the current stable figures.

It looks similar at

SC Böbing

.

"We do not expect a decline in the next year either," says club boss Wolfgang Kees, who is convinced of the loyalty of his members.

"We understand the current restrictions as long as the corona situation is so tense, but it would be important that we can hold our sports activities again as soon as possible," adds Kees.

“You can't plan a lot at the moment.

There is of course hope that club life can return to normal in the course of the next year, ”says Schmölz.

Ralf Konstantin, President of

TSV Schongau

, who has also not registered a blatant drop in membership this year, also

has this hope

.

"But that could change next year at the latest when the membership fees are collected in February." The athletes who belong to the club are not so much the problem: "What about the children who have not even started with the sport or were not yet so integrated?

They won't come any more ”, so the fear of the TSV President.

In addition, it should be noted that “the children and young people are becoming more comfortable”.

Konstantin sees the danger that the “Playstation generation” will keep growing.

That is why he would have liked the youngsters to be able to continue training under the already strict hygiene rules.

“In this situation, we put the main burden on the children and young people,” complains Konstantin.

There is also criticism in the direction of the neighboring

TSV Peiting

, which announced that it would cut the membership fee in half for 2021.

“Something like that worries us because we cannot afford it due to a completely different structure,” says Konstantin.

Despite the fee reduction, the Peitinger expect a decrease of around one hundred members in 2021.

For this year, the club's chairman Günther Neureuther expects a moderate decline.

“We always have layoffs in the current year, which are usually offset by new registrations.

But these are currently missing because everyone is waiting to see how things will go on, ”says Neureuther.

But he is confident that this minus will be made good in the spring, “when we can offer sport again”.

Stefan Rießenberger, the president of

TSV Peißenberg

, is

also trying

to spread

confidence

.

“We hope for better times again and that everyone will hold our own.” Despite the establishment of the “Artistic Skating” division, the TSV has lost around 100 members this year.

"Whether this is due to Corona cannot be proven one hundred percent," says Rießenberger, who sees the problems primarily in the smaller departments such as table tennis and fistball.
